Big Canoe Postal Facility FAQ

Information provided by the Jasper Post Office
Include your five digit Big Canoe box number

The Postal Service now makes some final deliveries for Fed Ex and UPS. To be on the safe side, please make sure your shipping address includes your five digit Big Canoe Box number. If your package comes to USPS for final delivery and does not include the five digit Big Canoe Box number, it could get returned to sender.postal-facility-boxes-2016_08_0401

‘Hold Mail’ or ‘Overflow’ Mail

‘Hold Mail’ or ‘Overflow’ Mail has to be picked up at the mail room window while our mail carriers are on the premises. Due to the increase in parcel delivery with the Postal Service, we are no longer able to use the parcel lockers to deliver letter mail. If you are unable to pick up your mail during our varied time frame, you may request to have your hold mail sent to the Jasper Post Office for pick up.

Carriers cannot sign for your deliveries

Due to Postal Regulations, our carriers are no longer allowed to sign for mail or parcels addressed to customers. This includes signature confirmation, certified letters, and any other piece of mail that would need a signature from a customer.
Best time for package pickup is 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
As you are aware, the hours for the Big Canoe Mail Room vary from day to day. There are no ‘set’ hours assigned to the mail room. The mail room isn’t a working Post Office with set day to day hours. The Big Canoe Mail Room is an area where three rural routes deliver mail in one facility.
A good time to catch an employee attending the mail room is between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The majority of the days you will find carriers a little before and a little after this time. The time varies due to late arriving trucks, early trucks, high volume of mail, or low volume of mail. When the carriers have completed their task of delivering mail to the boxes, they are instructed to return back to the Jasper Post Office for completion of their day.
We try our best to accommodate our customers with any need they may have with their mail delivery. We understand that it may be frustratmg to some, and we apologize for any inconvenience the hours may cause. If you are unable to catch an employee at the facility for mail or package pick up, you may call (706) 253-4300 and request for your items to be sent to the Jasper Post Office for your pick up.
